Amber is so cute and crazy. But how the hell is she allowed to suck face with the bosses son in the office? She even started yelling at him and screaming about sex, how does that even happen???
Oh my God. he is so good looking! You just can not deny it! He's gorgeous.

I'm loving his character the more I get into it. He started out kind of smarmy and sleazy - but I always thought he was good looking - but the more I get into the better he gets. I thihnk the main reason I am liking him so much is because I'm disliking Victoria so much.

She's so boring! And her hair and make up is so skanky and she never works. yeah, fair enough, she just had a baby but there's enough money in that family so she can get a nanny, it's no wonder she lost her job to Adam. He sleeps at work! He probably doesn't even sleep!

And I loved how he had a dig at that hideous home wrecker Sabrina the other day! Sucked in to her. I can't believe she actually went to Reed's Christening! What is Victor thinking!

Sure it's his house - technically anyway - but it's HER child's Christening! Sabrina should have honest in the first place and maybe things would have turned out diffrently but she didn't!

She snuck around behind Victoria's - AND EVERYONE ELSES!!! - back with that OLD MAN!!!

So good on Hot Stuff for pulling her up on it!
I'm so sad for Cane and Lilly. That is so sad, she was really excited about that baby and it all got taken away so suddenly. I can't say I'm not a little glad though, I still think Lilly is way too young to be a mum and I don't think the Cane, Lilly and Neil triangle would have been very good for anyone.

It's funny how Neil just can't seem to accept Cane, even when he's giving him some kind words and telling him he's a good man, he still sounds patronising in a way. i think Cane has been awesome throughout this whole thing and really supportive of Lilly.

Poor Lilly, i wonder what will happen to her. oh well, I guess the door has been open for Chloe to walk on in and cause some trouble.

We can't wait!

The Shield breaks the conventional formula of the cop genre. It plays out in a tough, morally ambiguous world in which the line between good and bad is crossed ever day. The series focuses on the tension between a group of corrupt but effective cops and a captain torn between bringing them down and advancing his own political ambitions.
The Shield stars Michael Chiklis (The Commish) as rogue cop "Det. Vic Mackey," leader of the elite Strike Team unit, who is effective at eliminating crime but who operates under his own set of rules. Benito Martinez (Outbreak & Her Costly Affair) plays "Captain David Aceveda," the young precinct head who doesn't like Mackey's tactics and wants to bust him off the force. And the Emmy-nominated CCH Pounder (ER & Boycott), plays "Det. Claudette Wyms," a veteran detective who understands Mackey and knows how to play both sides of the fence.
The show made history by becoming the first ad-supported cable series to win the 2003 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series. In its first season, Shawn Ryan (Writing) and Clark Johnson (Directing) received Emmy nominations, which were also firsts for basic cable in those categories. The Shield has received two TCA nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Drama. (MA)

Congratulations to Kate Winslet who picked up a Golden Globe award for her performance in Revolutionary Road.
In her speech she gave a heart felt thanks to Richard Yates for 'writing such an amazing book".
I have to agree with Kate whole heartedly on this one, I'm half way through Revolutionary Road and I have to tell you, it's one of the best can't-put-downs I've ever had the fortune to pick up. It's funny because I would ordinarily never have picked it up but I'm so glad that I did.
I have written on here a few times raving about it so you've probably heard it all before but Iam really urging you to get a copy of the book. Even if you don't participate in the reading group it really will bring you a great deal of pleasure.

"He only wants you because you're mine"

I am loving the catty Gloria, Jeff and his Philipino sex kitten mistress storyline - I wish I could find a picture of her, I'd plaster her head in here too! It's the best!
That mistress, I don't even know her name, she is the best of over actors anonymous and I'm loving every single second of it. I can't believe she locked Gloria in her own wine cellar! that is hilarious! Where do these people come from. and that stupid Jeffrey, go find your wife you bastard. He was all 'please leave, i'm a married man' but he didn't move very fgast as soon as she took her dress off did he!
I loved the 'I'm just a simple girl from a poor family' line, that was priceless!

Can you please look at how absolutely beautiful this girl is! What the hell are they doing with her make-up!!! They're making her look like a washed up old Denise Richards AFTER her divorce to Charlie Sheen!!!
And I guess I've answered my own question from yesterday, she DEFINITELY does not know about her dad and her mate! Although, i think maybe I was wrong about how young Sabrina is, I think she may be in her thrirties? Maybe? Still, he's eighty five or something so still a little too old for her.
She, sorry, THEY, should tell Victoria about their sordid affair already! It was only five minutes ago that Victor was crying by her bedside while she lay there in a coma...Not very nice at all!

Ingredients

• 6 boneless chicken breasts or thighs, preferably free-range or organic, skin on, each quartered

• sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

• plain flour, for dusting

• olive oil

• 100g chorizo, sliced

• 6 slices pancetta or streaky bacon

• 1 onion, finely chopped

• 4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped

• 2 litres hot chicken stock, preferably organic

• 2 large pinches of saffron

• 1 heaped teaspoon smoked paprika

• 500g paella rice

• small bunch flat leaf parsley, leaves picked and chopped, stalks chopped

• 2 handfuls peas, fresh or frozen

• 10 king prawns optional: 500g mussels, scrubbed

• optional: 2 small squid, halved and scored

Serves 4-6

Preheat the oven to 190ºC/375ºF/gas 5. Season the chicken pieces and dust with flour. Heat a little olive oil in a large deep pan and fry the chicken until golden brown on both sides. Place the pieces on a baking tray and into the oven for 30 minutes.

Put the pan back on the heat. Add the sliced chorizo and pancetta or bacon and fry until browned and crispy. Then add the onion and garlic and cook until soft. Meanwhile infuse half the hot chicken stock with the saffron. Add the smoked paprika, rice and infused stock and leave to cook on a medium heat, stirring from time to time.

After 20 minutes the rice should be nearly cooked. At this point, pour in the rest of the stock along with the peas, prawns, and the mussels and squid if you are using them. Place a lid on the pan and cook for 10 minutes more.

Finally, add the cooked chicken and serve sprinkled with chopped parsley and a wedge of lemon

Can you please look at how saggy and wrinkly his neck looks next to her teenage face!!! Get back with Nikki please, at least next to someone your own age your face doesn't look like a dirty dish cloth, I can't believe no one has an issue with this, I'm beside myself! He's at least 40 years older than her!!!
Now, I'm still not up to speed with what I've missed but...Does Victoria know about Victor and Sabrina? Because the way she was speaking to Sabrina on the phone is not the way I would be speaking to my friend after she spent the day pashing up my dad, no, my phone manner would be very, very different!
Um, you can not accuse him of being ugly!

Right! Someone has got to fill me in on what the hell is going on around here!!!!

I've been on holidays - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you - but let's get down to business! I haven't seen Y&R for over two weeks and I get home to a broken down IQ with no taped episodes!!! Grrrr!!!!

I see that Chloe is turning into a right bitch so that's good to see, I really didn't miss Lilly's goody two shoes crap over Christmas, THAT, I can do without. But is she pregnant now? Has she told Neil yet?

And what is up with John???!!! Are they not getting tired of bringing back Gloria's husbands from the grave? A bit old don't you think? They just chucked John back in but with a funny accent and a slight oral tick, no, I'm not buying it!

So why was his ghost walking around before? Will the ghost be back? Has it visited Jack in the last couple of weeks?

Is Gloria not at all freaked out that her husbands keep coming back from the dead?

And boy does Victor move fast, already whispering sweet nothing - in French no less - in YOUNG Sabrina's ear! Is Victoria mad about this?
Help me!!!

Absolutely Geisha are not prostitutes - a common misconception. So man7y peopple are so very wrong about the actual role of the Geisha, they were trained 'artists' and not just in the art of satisfying a man because many of them never even slept with their clients.

They were hired for their skills - comedy, acting, singing, dancing, etc.

A great book to read, fictional but with great truths, is Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. It's been mentioned in the messageboards before so hopefully W puts it up because it really is a gorgeous book and goes deep into the history of the Geisha.

Thank you for your wonderful review Linda, I very much enjoyed it although I can't say the same for all of Bryce Courtenay's novels - many, not all. Perhaps I will give Fishing for Stars a go.
