In The Beginning...

Once upon a time there was a world where dial up Internet was considered a luxury, Myspace had only one member (hi Tom), mobile phones resembled space shuttles and the world was without Australia’s Next Top Model.

We have come a long way.

Twas the year 2005. And what a historical year in media it was...Martha Stuart went to Jail, Rehab became the new celebrity holiday hot spot and Paris Hilton continued to waste valuable air...time.

But it wasn't all bad...the year 2005 gave birth to an Aussie Top Model!

I remember my very first Australia's Next Top Model experience like it was yesterday...

Let’s take a (power) walk down memory lane shall we…*cue “The Way We Were” by Barbara Streisand…

I was spending some intimate one on one time with my couch, remote in one hand and empty box of chocolates in the other (ahhh heaven). Suddenly a bevy of beautiful girls begin to invade my TV, strutting up and down a runway and declaring why they want to be models..."I want to be a model, because I want to be famous," says one hopeful. "I have what it takes", says another. I immediately feel ashamed of my sloth like behavior and try to fight my couch's quicksand like capabilities in an effort to get a closer look at the models, secretly hoping to find any sign of human flaws.

Despite realizing Australia is full of beautiful model types and that I am definitely not one of them, ANTM and I have been inseparable ever since our first time. Through the highs ("game on mole") and the lows (Cassandra and Paloma’s "street fight"…oh wait that’s a high) the memories will always reside in the corners of my mind.
